Are you a wife needing encouragement and answers for your marriage? There is hope for your marriage and answers through God’s word! From time to time we are asked to give a list of scripture references that husbands and wives can be encouraged by and pray through on their marriage journey. With so many books and opinions on marriage in our culture today, many couples neglect to go back to the creator of all marriages and relationships for wisdom, advice and counsel. Here are a few that have helped us in our relationship:
- Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. (Proverbs 31:10-11)
- Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” (Genesis 2:18)
- Fathers can give their sons an inheritance of houses and wealth, but only the LORD can give an understanding wife. (Proverbs 19:14)
- Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised. (Proverbs 31:30)
- She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. (Proverbs 31:25-27)
- Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)
- Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. (Philippians 2:2)
- Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:32)
- …and the wife must respect her husband. (Ephesians 5:33)
- Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
